Battersea Carpet Cleaning Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Battersea Carpet Cleaning provides professional carpet and related cleaning services to residential and commercial customers. By booking a service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before making a booking.

1. Definitions

In these Terms and Conditions, the following definitions apply.

Company means Battersea Carpet Cleaning, the provider of the cleaning services.

Customer means the individual or business booking the services of the Company.

Premises means the property or properties where the services are to be performed.

Services means any carpet, upholstery, rug, hard floor, or related cleaning service provided by the Company to the Customer.

Technician means any employee, contractor, or representative of the Company who performs the services.

Agreement means the contract formed between the Company and the Customer when a booking is accepted by the Company under these Terms and Conditions.

2. Scope of Services

The Company provides carpet and related cleaning services in its designated service area, subject to availability. The exact scope of the services will be agreed at the time of booking and confirmed by the Company. Any additional work requested on site that is outside the agreed scope may be subject to additional charges and carried out only if time and resources permit.

The Company reserves the right to decline work that is unsafe, unsuitable, or beyond the capability of the equipment, materials, or Technician, including but not limited to severe contamination, structural defects, or access hazards.

3. Booking Process

3.1 Booking request

Customers may request a booking by contacting the Company and providing accurate details about the Premises, the areas to be cleaned, the type of flooring or fabric, any specific stains or damage, and any access restrictions such as parking limitations or security requirements.

3.2 Estimates and quotations

Any estimate or quotation provided by the Company is based on information supplied by the Customer and is subject to revision if the information is incomplete, inaccurate, or if the condition or size of the area to be cleaned differs materially from that described. Estimates are not binding until confirmed by the Company.

3.3 Confirmation

A booking is only confirmed when the Company explicitly accepts the booking and provides the Customer with a scheduled date and time or time window for the services. The Agreement between the Customer and the Company is formed at this point and incorporates these Terms and Conditions.

3.4 Access requirements

The Customer is responsible for ensuring that the Technician has clear and safe access to the Premises at the agreed time, including suitable parking where reasonably possible and access to electricity and water if required for the services. If access is delayed or prevented, waiting charges or a call-out fee may apply, or the appointment may be treated as a late cancellation under these Terms and Conditions.

4. Customer Obligations

The Customer agrees to the following obligations.

To provide truthful, complete, and up-to-date information when booking.

To ensure that the Premises are ready for cleaning, including removing small items, personal belongings, fragile objects, and where possible, light furniture from the areas to be cleaned, unless otherwise agreed.

To notify the Company in advance of any known defects, pre-existing damage, loose fittings, unstable furniture, or any surfaces that may be particularly sensitive to cleaning products or moisture.

To ensure that children, pets, and vulnerable individuals are kept away from work areas and equipment during and after the cleaning service until the areas are safe and dry.

To comply with all safety advice given by the Technician, including guidance on drying times, ventilation, and the use of recently cleaned areas.

5. Prices and Payment Terms

5.1 Pricing

Prices are normally quoted on a per room, per area, per item, or per hour basis, as communicated to the Customer at the time of booking. The Company reserves the right to amend pricing if the actual work required differs from that originally described by the Customer.

5.2 Payment methods

Accepted payment methods will be communicated by the Company and may include card payments, bank transfers, or other methods agreed between the parties. Cash payments may be accepted at the Technician’s discretion, subject to the Company’s policy.

5.3 Payment due date

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due immediately upon completion of the services at the Premises. For certain commercial clients or larger projects, alternative payment terms may be agreed in advance in writing.

5.4 Late payment

Where payment is not received by the due date, the Company reserves the right to charge reasonable late payment fees and, where applicable, interest on overdue amounts in accordance with applicable law. The Company may also suspend further services until all outstanding balances are paid in full.

5.5 Deposits

The Company may require a deposit or prepayment for certain bookings, particularly large or specialist jobs. Any deposit requirement, amount, and refund conditions will be confirmed at the time of booking.

6. Cancellations, Rescheduling, and No-Show

6.1 Customer cancellations

The Customer may cancel or reschedule a booking by providing reasonable advance notice. The required notice period and any applicable cancellation charges will be advised by the Company at the time of booking. As a general guideline, cancellations made at short notice may incur a cancellation fee to cover the Company’s lost time and costs.

6.2 Same-day and late cancellations

If the Customer cancels on the day of the appointment or fails to provide access to the Premises when the Technician arrives, the Company may charge a call-out fee or up to the full value of the scheduled service, at its discretion.

6.3 Company cancellations and delays

The Company aims to attend all bookings at the agreed time but may need to cancel or reschedule due to circumstances beyond its control, such as severe weather, traffic incidents, staff illness, or equipment failure. In such cases, the Company will notify the Customer as soon as reasonably possible and will offer an alternative appointment. The Company will not be liable for any indirect loss, such as loss of earnings or inconvenience, caused by such changes.

7. Condition of Carpets and Limitations of Cleaning

7.1 Pre-existing damage

The Company’s cleaning processes cannot rectify structural issues, wear and tear, fading, fibre damage, or defects that predate the services. The Company is not responsible for pre-existing damage or deterioration that becomes more visible following cleaning.

7.2 Stain and odour removal

While the Company will use its professional expertise and reasonable care to treat stains and odours, it does not guarantee complete removal of any stain or odour. Success depends on factors such as the type of stain, length of time, prior attempts at removal, and the material involved.

7.3 Shrinkage, colour run, and texture changes

Certain fabrics and materials are susceptible to shrinkage, colour migration, pile distortion, or other changes during cleaning. The Customer is responsible for informing the Company of any known sensitivities or manufacturer warnings. The Company will always seek to use appropriate methods, but the Customer accepts that there is an inherent risk of change when cleaning delicate or older materials.

8. Liability and Insurance

8.1 Duty of care

The Company will exercise reasonable skill and care in carrying out the services. The Company holds appropriate insurance cover for its activities, subject to the terms and limitations of its policy.

8.2 Limits on liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Company shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, revenue, business, opportunity, or enjoyment arising out of or in connection with the services or these Terms and Conditions.

The Company’s total liability for any direct loss or damage arising from a single incident or series of connected incidents shall not exceed the total price paid or payable by the Customer for the services in question, unless otherwise required by law.

8.3 Exclusions

The Company shall not be liable for any loss or damage resulting from.

Incorrect, incomplete, or misleading information supplied by the Customer.

Failure by the Customer to follow any reasonable instructions or advice given by the Company or Technician.

Defects, weaknesses, or pre-existing damage in the Premises, including carpets, flooring, fabrics, underlay, or furnishings.

The natural outcome of cleaning processes on aged, worn, or compromised materials, including but not limited to colour loss, shrinkage, or pile distortion.

8.4 Personal items and valuables

The Customer is responsible for securing any valuables, money, jewellery, or sensitive items before the Technician attends the Premises. The Company does not accept responsibility for loss of or damage to items that have not been removed from the work areas or adequately protected.

9. Waste Handling and Environmental Compliance

9.1 Waste generated during services

In the course of providing the services, the Company may generate certain waste materials, including soiled water, used consumables, packaging, and debris collected during cleaning. The Company will handle and dispose of such waste in accordance with applicable waste management and environmental regulations.

9.2 Customer obligations relating to waste

The Customer agrees not to request the Company to dispose of waste that is hazardous, controlled, or outside the Company’s normal scope, such as asbestos, chemical waste, clinical waste, or sharp objects. If such materials are discovered, the Company may refuse to proceed with the affected work area and may require the Customer to arrange for specialist removal.

9.3 Off-site disposal

Where the Company removes waste or residue from the Premises for off-site disposal, it will do so in compliance with relevant local authority and national regulations, including any applicable duty of care, transfer documentation, and permitted disposal routes.

9.4 Environmental considerations

The Company endeavours to use cleaning products and methods that are effective while seeking to minimise environmental impact, subject to the need to achieve professional cleaning results. The Customer should inform the Company in advance of any specific environmental or allergy-related concerns so that appropriate products can be considered where feasible.

10. Health and Safety

The Company and the Customer both have responsibilities under health and safety laws and regulations. The Company will carry out its work with appropriate regard for safe working practices and will provide Technicians with any necessary protective equipment.

The Customer must inform the Company of any known health and safety risks at the Premises, such as loose floorboards, exposed wiring, limited ventilation, or other hazards. The Customer must not ask the Technician to undertake any task that is unsafe or outside the normal professional boundaries of carpet and related cleaning services.

11. Complaints and Service Issues

If the Customer is dissatisfied with any aspect of the services, the Customer should notify the Company as soon as possible and within a reasonable time after completion of the work. The Company may request photographs, descriptions, or a site visit to assess the issue.

The Company will use reasonable efforts to investigate genuine complaints and, where appropriate, may offer a rectification visit or other proportionate remedy. Any such remedy shall be at the Company’s discretion and subject to the Customer having complied with these Terms and Conditions, including payment obligations.

12. Data Protection and Privacy

The Company may collect and store personal data such as names, addresses, and service details for the purpose of managing bookings, performing services, and administering customer relationships. The Company will take reasonable steps to protect such data and process it in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

The Customer’s information will not be sold to third parties. It may, however, be shared with trusted partners or subcontractors where necessary to fulfil the services or comply with legal obligations.

13. Changes to These Terms

The Company reserves the right to update or amend these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The version in force at the time of the booking will apply to that particular Agreement. The Customer is encouraged to review the Terms and Conditions periodically to remain aware of any changes.

14. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, or their subject matter or formation, shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

The parties agree that the courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions or the services provided by the Company.

15. Severability

If any provision or part-provision of these Terms and Conditions is or becomes invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, it shall be deemed modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid, lawful, and enforceable. If such modification is not possible, the relevant provision or part-provision shall be deemed deleted. Any such modification or deletion shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions.

16. Entire Agreement

These Terms and Conditions, together with any written confirmation of the booking and any specific written variations agreed between the Company and the Customer, constitute the entire agreement between the parties and supersede any prior discussions, correspondence, or understandings.

By confirming a booking with Battersea Carpet Cleaning, the Customer confirms that they have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.
